Comparison · Repeat images and PDFs from editable designs
thirds.ai vs Robolly
Both tools keep a saved design and fill it with new words and pictures. Robolly changes layers through a URL, its API, a dataset, a workflow tool, or MCP (vendor claim). thirds.ai fills an HTML design by hand in the app, from your code, or from your AI tools.
We aren't connected to Robolly. Robolly is a trademark of its owner. We checked Robolly's features, prices, and credit rules on 12 September 2026. Facts and numbers about Robolly come from Robolly. Where we say which tool fits, or that we didn't find a feature, that's our opinion.

Feature by feature
Side by side
| What you need | thirds.ai | Robolly |
|---|---|---|
| Inputs | Describe it to the AI, paste your own HTML, or upload a picture that becomes a design you can edit. | A saved layer template changed through query parameters, the API, a dataset, a workflow integration, or MCP (vendor claim). |
| Outputs | PDF, PNG, JPEG, and WebP. | JPG, PNG, WebP, PDF, MP4, and WebM (vendor claim). Video needs a paid add-on (vendor claim). |
| Template editing | A visual editor and an AI chat work on the same HTML design. Saved versions never change. | A layer editor with alignment, text sizing, curved text, conditional styles, image cover, animation, barcodes, and a gallery of more than 200 designs (vendor claim). |
| Brand and import | Brand kits save your logo, colours, and fonts. Upload a picture and it's rebuilt as HTML you can edit, in your brand. | Custom fonts are listed on paid plans (vendor claim). We found no brand-kit or plain-image-to-editable-template flow in the pages we checked (our reading). |
| API | REST endpoints create async PDF and image jobs from HTML or a template. | A GET render link returns a file from a template ID and query values. Classic REST endpoints list, create, update, and inspect templates and renders (vendor claim). |
| MCP | Lists, reads, creates, edits, and renders templates through an authenticated MCP server. | Lists, reads, creates, edits, and renders templates through an authenticated Streamable HTTP MCP server (vendor claim). Video rendering is async (vendor claim). |
| Delivery | Jobs, polling, signed webhooks, and expiring signed downloads. | A render link returns the file synchronously or can return JSON. Smart caching keeps a unique result for 45 days, so the same request uses no new credit in that period (vendor claim). |
| Entry paid plan | Starter is $29 a month for 2,500 credits. | Individual starts at $39 a month and includes at most 50 templates (vendor price and limit). Its render-credit amount is selected on the live pricing page, but the accessible page text did not expose the selected amount (our reading). |
| Free use | 50 free credits a month for a verified account. Making a design with AI or from a picture costs 50 credits, and free credits don't pay for it. | A seven-day trial needs no card (vendor claim). We found no ongoing free plan or public trial-credit amount on the pricing page (our reading). |
| Where it fits | Teams that want HTML they can edit, pictures turned into designs, brand kits, and one credit for a whole PDF. | Teams that want a layer editor, direct render URLs, video, and ready no-code data paths (our reading). |

Limits on both sides
thirds.ai limits
- It doesn't make video.
- It doesn't place changing values in a public render URL. Your server sends an authenticated API or MCP request.
- It doesn't provide Google Sheets, Airtable, Zapier, Make, n8n, Pabbly Connect, Albato, or viaSocket integrations. Upload a CSV in the studio, or send JSON rows through the API or MCP.
- It doesn't offer a template library of thousands of ready designs. The gallery holds a smaller set of templates that you can copy.
- A PDF can have up to 100 pages. The pictures and fonts it loads can total 20 MiB, and the finished file can be 25 MiB. An image can be up to 32 megapixels and 25 MiB.
Robolly limits we found
- A PDF is limited to seven pages and costs five render credits per page (vendor limit and credit rule).
- A regular JPG or WebP costs one render credit, while a regular PNG costs three (vendor credit rules). Larger image dimensions use more credits (vendor claim).
- Individual holds at most 50 templates; Business has unlimited templates (vendor limits). The pricing page lists Business at $129 a month (vendor price).
- A direct unsigned render link can use quota if another person changes its query values. Robolly documents HMAC-SHA256 signatures or API-key authentication to protect the link (vendor claim).
- Image layers need a publicly accessible image URL. Google Drive and Dropbox public links are supported (vendor claim).
- We found no raw HTML render input or source-image reconstruction flow in the pages we checked (our reading).
Pricing
How we compared prices
- We checked prices and credit rules on 12 September 2026. Check the Robolly pricing page and our pricing page before you buy.
- Robolly Individual starts at $39 a month, and Business starts at $129 a month (vendor prices). The live page uses a control to select render credits, but the selected quota and price steps were not present in the accessible page text. We do not infer them.
- Robolly counts formats differently: a regular JPG or WebP uses one credit, a regular PNG uses three, and a PDF uses five per page (vendor credit rules). The vendor says cached repeats with identical changes use no new credit for 45 days (vendor claim).
- Robolly video is an add-on. Its listed add-ons start at $14 a month for Animation, $39 for Movie, and $79 for Advanced Movie (vendor prices).
- One thirds.ai credit makes one PDF of up to 100 pages, or one image. AI work uses more credits. A file that fails costs nothing.
Switching
Moving from Robolly
Start with one Robolly template, its accepted modification names, three real input sets, and the finished files. Rebuild the layout as thirds.ai HTML. Keep each Robolly element name as a clear MiniJinja field where possible, and store sample values with the template.
Replace the GET render link with an authenticated POST /v1/image or POST /v1/pdf request. Put the field values in data, select the exact saved template version, and store the returned job ID. Poll it or accept a signed webhook, then download and keep the finished file. Do not expose a thirds.ai API key in a public page, email, or spreadsheet.
Video and direct render URLs do not have thirds.ai replacements. Keep Robolly for those jobs. For images and documents that move, compare text wrapping, image crops, fonts, PDF pages, and file delivery before you switch the next template.
