The cheaper tool depends on how many files you make each month and what kind they are. Here's what Robolly and thirds.ai each cost, and how each one counts a file.
- thirds.ai Starter costs less each month and gives more: $29 for 2,500 credits, against $39 for Robolly Individual with 250 credits (vendor price, checked 12 October 2026). Robolly doesn't list the price of its 1,000-credit Individual plan (our reading, 12 October 2026). Robolly Business is $129 a month for 10,000 credits and up (vendor price, checked 12 October 2026).
- The gap grows with PNGs and PDFs. A regular JPG or WebP costs one credit in both tools, but a regular PNG costs three Robolly credits and a high-resolution one up to twelve (vendor claim, checked 12 October 2026). Every thirds.ai image costs one credit, up to 32 megapixels, in any format. A seven-page PDF costs 35 Robolly credits, because each page is five, and one thirds.ai credit, because one credit covers up to 100 pages. - Robolly charges only the first time it makes a given file, and keeps that file for 45 days, so asking for the exact same file again in that time is free (vendor claim, checked 12 October 2026). In thirds.ai every finished file costs one credit, and a file that fails costs nothing.
- Video is a Robolly add-on at $14 a month for Animation, $39 for Movie, and $79 for Advanced Movie (vendor prices, checked 12 October 2026). thirds.ai doesn't make video.
- When your credits run out on a paid thirds.ai plan, you keep going at $0.015 a credit, up to one month of your plan's credits, and plan credits last three months. Robolly's pricing page lists no overage or credit pack (our reading, 12 October 2026).

A design you can open as HTML
Every thirds.ai design is HTML you can open and edit in the template editor. Paste in a page you already have and it becomes a design with fields you can fill, or let the AI start it and take over when you want full control. Robolly's editor works in layers, with auto-alignment, text auto-sizing, curved text, and conditional styling (vendor claim, checked 12 October 2026), and we found no HTML editing (our reading).
That's how a designer or a developer gets the final say on a design the AI started.
No code needed
How do you make a festival pass in thirds.ai?
Start from a designer-made festival pass, switch it to your brand in one step, and make a pass for every guest from one spreadsheet.
- Open the Festival day pass in the gallery and click Use this template. You can also upload a picture of your Robolly design and let the AI rebuild it.
- Type the festival, the day, the headliner, and the guest's name into the boxes beside the pass. Pick your brand kit, and the pass switches to your logo and colours.
- Click Save and export PDF to download it. For every other guest, paste your guest list into a batch and get one pass per row.
Once the design is yours, ask ChatGPT or Claude for the next pass in plain words.
Switching
Moving from Robolly
You move from Robolly to thirds.ai one design at a time, and each design takes two steps. First you rebuild the design in thirds.ai, then you point your code, your sheet, or your assistant at it. The fastest rebuild is the picture import. Open one finished image from Robolly, upload it, and the AI rebuilds it as an editable design in your brand kit. You can also paste your own HTML into the template editor or describe the design to the AI chat. The image rebuild guide shows what to check and fix after the import. Then mark the parts that change, keep each Robolly element name as a field name where you can, and save.
For developers, the request and the result differ. A Robolly render link is a GET request with the template ID in the path and each element's value in the query, and the file comes back in the response (vendor claim, checked 12 October 2026). thirds.ai takes an authenticated POST /v1/image or POST /v1/pdf with a template_id, a version, and a data object keyed by the field names in your HTML. It returns a job with an id and a status, and a webhook reports render.succeeded, render.failed, or render.cancelled when the job ends. Keep your API key on your server; it never goes in a public link, an email, or a sheet.
